The Special Forces Combat Assault Rifle or SCAR is a modular rifle made by Fabrique Nationale de Herstal (FNH, of Belgium) for the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) to satisfy the requirements of the SCAR competition. This family of rifles consist of two main types. The Mk.16 SCAR-L (light) is chambered in the lighter 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge while the Mk.17 SCAR-H (heavy) fires the heavier 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge. While time has showed the SCAR to generally be cancelled for US forces, to some extent they are used in limited quantities. In particular, the Mk.17 is still being acquired for special operations where the reliable platform for the higher power 7.62mm proves more effective for long range fighting.
With a shorter barrel, the CQC variant of the Mk.17 is purposed for fighting at shorter ranges such as urban areas. The preference of the heavier cartridge in this case being for superior stopping power, particularly at fringe stand off ranges.
It is with this prowess that the Airsoft Mk.17 makes its début; of course in Airsoft it means no difference to performance other than the different magazine, at the very least many player prefer the aesthetics of the Mk.17 over the Mk.16 due to the more aggressive profile of the larger magazine hanging out of the receiver.
As a truly modern weapon, it uses a polymer lower receiver, pistol grip and stock but the material used is incredibly strong and hard wearing. The upper receiver, short barrel and other details are rendered in metal with the one-piece CNC upper receiver itself being Aluminium (for a high strength to weight ratio), the barrel being steel giving it a nice genuine distribution of mass proportionally speaking. The bolt does cock and lock to the rear to make hop up access easier.
The stock is telescopically adjustable to 6 positions, the cheek rest is adjustable to 3 positions and the whole stock can be folded to the side for an even shorter overall weapon. The battery is stored inside the stock with the wiring so neatly hidden away that even with the stock folded none are visible. The bolt catch is on the left side but the fire selector and magazine release are truly ambidextrous being present on both sides. The weapon even uses the FN style magazine with the newer version leveled floor plate which doubles as a magazine pull. The weapon even field strips down similarly to the real thing. The gearbox is a proprietary VFC design but internally is entirely compatible with standard series parts making maintenance upkeep, repairs and modifications as simple as any other version 2 gearbox. The stock fits the mini type NiCad battery (8.4v or 9.6v) or also smaller LiPo batteries with a battery compartment space of approximately 2 x 3 x 21cm. Modification potential is high which very handy as the stock power of 315 FPS is perfectly good for short range and indoor use some may wish to swap out the spring to ensure targets at longer range can still feel the firepower.

King Arms SIG 556 DMR
The real steel SIG 556 is a semi-auto rifle based on the SIG 55X series. With semi-auto action and converted to take STANAG magazines, it is targeted at the civilian market; its longer variant DMR (designated marksman rifle) is its more recent model designed for match shooting. In the case of Airsoft, this translated to an AEG with a whopping 550mm inner barrel. A fully trademark licensed weapon; this AEG does a fairly decent job of replicating the look of the real steel.
With an electro-pneumatic blowback system, this weapon cycles the dummy bolt on each shot. The bolt cycle has a distinct metal on metal sound making it rather different then most blowback electric rifles.
The combination of metal and polymers do a good job of giving it a nice rifle heft but spreads out the weight to keep it fairly well balanced. The rather heavy PRS stock actually works well to balance out the long front with front wired battery storage.
The receiver has a flat top rail and the foreguard has a long rail on the bottom for bipods and / or grips with short rails on the sides towards the front for lasers and flashlights. Selectable of semi and full-auto which is not realistic strictly speaking but is useful for Airsoft games and if you do not like it you can always just not use it.
It does take King Arms M4 magazines in this case coming with a short type 190 round high capacity version. Technically, as such, it is compatible with Marui magazines but it is a tight fit probably requiring some minor filing; it is recommended just to use King Arms magazines which is easy enough considering there is a massive variety of them and they are all more then good enough for gaming.
It comes with a Magpul style PTS PRS stock which is highly adjustable and just the right stock for a marksman style weapon. The weapon does make use of an M4 style stock tube to attach stocks so for those who want to know it can indeed take M4 style stocks if you intend to change it although you should always ask to double check if your proposed stock will fit this AEG.
Equally so, with 360 fps its good enough for outdoor use but if you want to crank up the power you can look into getting a juicer spring. This weapon does not come with a battery or charger, nor does it come with a scope or bipod either so if you want to pick one up take a look around the website, you are sure to find something you might like.

G&P AR15A2
Although named like the real steel Colt AR-15A2, this G&P AEG actually replicates the Colt AR-15A2 HBAR Sporter as it has the full 20 inch M16 barrel instead of the AR-15A2s 16 inch carbine length barrel. Otherwise the differences in the real steel version are inconsequential to the Airsoft model (barrel twist rate, heavier barrel, etc) and for all intensive purposes this is a G&P M16 in this instance targeting the cheaper end of the scale as an entry level but high quality long barrel AEG.
As a base model M16, is has the original receiver (metal) with integrated carry handle and full M16A2 style adjustable two-position rear sight with fixed front post. The full length solids tock allows the use of a large type NiCad battery and the long handguard is basic polymer style keeping the weight reasonable.
The magazine is a mid cap 130 round capacity type STANAG thus giving you a fair capacity with no need to wind. G&P type magazine means that this weapon is compatible with Tokyo Marui and King Arms M16 magazines as well which makes it one of the easiest weapons to buy magazines for. King Arms Thompson M1A1 Military
The Thompson is an American submachine gun, invented by John T. Thompson in 1919, that was well used during WWII but became infamous during the Prohibition era. It was a common sight in the media of the time, being used by both law enforcement officers and criminals.
The Thompson was also known informally as: the "TSMG", the "Tommy Gun", the "Trench Broom", the "Trench Sweeper", the "Chicago Piano", the "Chicago Typewriter" and the "Chopper". In the case of the latter few nicknames, these where generally used to refer to the 1928 Chicago variant. Well used on the Silver screen, the Chicago typewriter was a later variant and used with the distinctive drum magazine and ribbed barrel in most media. The M1A1 is the base model SMG used by American troops in the war.
This King Arms model makes use of a version 6 style gearbox, a tried and trusted system for many years now which means it works well as is but also has the potential for upgrades. The hop-up is adjustable via the dial just short of the barrel from the outside, it is permanently exposed so the bolt does not need to be pulled back to access it.
As the military model, it has the bolt pull in the correct place on the right; the handguard is the plane strait wooden type and the stock and pistol grip are also wood whilst the receiver and barrel are Aluminium. The fire selector and safety are two different toggle switches right next to each other and the magazine release is located on the left of the pistol grip making use of an early form extended release catch.
The battery storage compartment is located in the solid stock, accessible through a rear hatch it is designed to take an AK type stick battery. The hatch is really designed to be able to connect / disconnect the battery easily, the buttplate is removable to make battery installation easier.
The long strait type magazine is a 420 round high capacity type making it appropriate as a short range sweeping weapon. The magazine is steel so despite its fairly low weight it will be hard wearing. The magazine has the same slotted style attachment as the real steal making the otherwise shallow attachment very secure. The King Arms strait box and drum magazines are interchangeable with both being compatible on this weapon.
This AEG has great build quality and good performance making it a very decent SMG AEG in its own right besides also being a charming replica of a period piece for themed games whether for use as a military SMG or a law enforcement / criminal sequestered incidence.
